WISTA Cyprus successfully held its 12th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on November 28, 2024, marking the culmination of an extraordinary year filled with milestones and achievements.

The AGM was highlighted by a review of the year’s accomplishments, including the organization’s proud hosting of the WISTA International AGM & Conference in October, which celebrated WISTA International’s 50th Anniversary. In addition, the successful launch of the innovative MentorWave mentorship program earlier this year demonstrated WISTA Cyprus’ commitment to fostering professional growth and collaboration within the maritime sector.

In her report, outgoing President Natalia Bury Loyal reflected on the highlights of 2024, acknowledging the support of key organizations and partners that have championed WISTA Cyprus’s mission. The organizations recognized included the Shipping Deputy Ministry of Cyprus, the Cyprus Shipping Chamber, Deloitte, and Hill Dickinson.

A special tribute was paid to Her Excellency Marina Hadjimanolis, the Shipping Deputy Minister to the President of the Republic of Cyprus, who addressed the event and commended WISTA’s contributions to the maritime industry.

Following the AGM, elections were held to appoint the new Board of Directors of WISTA Cyprus for 2024-2026.

The positions open for election were President, Vice President, Secretary, Board Members (3) and Young Board Affiliate.  The positions of Vice President and Secretary were uncontested.

The newly elected Board members are:

• President: Anna Pittalis, Commercial Director and Head of Shipping and Trading at Intergaz Ltd
• Vice President: Maria Theodosiou, Managing Director, GP General Procurement Company Limited (GenPro)
• Secretary General: Georgia Demetriou, Senior Legal Counsel, OSM Thome
• Treasurer: Monica Potsou, HR Manager, P&O Maritime Logistics (Cyprus)
• Board Members: Korina Christoforou, Legal Officer, Uniteam Marine Limited

Andrea Gerali Giljam, Senior Account Manager, Inglasco International LTD

Olga Tsiamourou, Credit Control Manager, Tototheo Global

• Young Board Affiliate: Mikaela Koni, Senior Claims Executive, For International Transport Intermediaries Insurance Company (Europe) Ltd

WISTA Cyprus extends its deepest gratitude to the outgoing Board members, including former President Natalia Bury Loyal, Vice President Uta Steffen, and Members Rafaella Yiangou and Emmanolia Kolias.

The AGM underscored WISTA Cyprus’ ongoing mission to advance diversity, inclusion, and professional development in the shipping and maritime industries.
