GTT held its third China Seminar in Shanghai, under the theme “Unlocking the LNG and Ethane Shipbuilding Industry for Greener Shipping”. The event brought together over 300 distinguished representatives from the LNG and shipping industries to exchange ideas and explore sustainable development strategies.

The seminar kicked off with a memorable address by Ms. Dong Xiaoling, Deputy Director of the Pudong Shipping Service Office. She praised GTT for its forward-thinking approach to research and development in environmentally-friendly shipbuilding. GTT’s efforts were recognized as one of the “Top Ten Innovative Cases in Pudong Shipping 2022.”

The seminar featured a series of insightful presentations by GTT, providing a comprehensive overview of the liquefied gas carrier and dual-fuel merchant ship markets, as well as the latest technological advancements and supply chain developments in China. Industry partners enriched the discussions through engaging speeches and participation in two panel discussions. The first panel explored challenges faced by ship-owners, such as crew recruitment, training, and safety, while the second focused on the evolving supply chain landscape in China.

A highlight of the event was a retrospective on Hudong-Zhonghua’s more than 20-year collaboration with GTT, showcasing industry milestones and their shared vision for the maritime industry’s future. Mr. Song Wei, Chief Engineer of Hudong-Zhonghua, delivered a heartfelt recount of their successful partnership, leaving a profound impression on the GTT team.

The seminar concluded on a celebratory note with the GTT Awards Ceremony. Mr. Jérôme Pellé, GTT’s Suppliers Quality Manager, presented certification certificates to BAOWU, DEHE, YOKE, and NMG, recognizing their contributions to the industry.
