NYK released “Progress Report 2024” as an annex to the NYK Group Decarbonization Story released last November to show the progression of the Group’s decarbonization strategy

Progress Report 2024 Annex to the NYK Group Decarbonization Story

Progress Report 2024 includes specific initiatives with numerical figures. It is divided into the following chapters, which describe the progress the Group has made approximately one year since the NDS was released.

1.Efforts to Achieve Net-zero Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions

Topic 2: Use of Alternative Fuels
2.Convert GHG Reductions into Value
Topic 1: Carbon Insetting (Reducing GHG emissions within customers’ value chain)
Topic 2: Carbon Accounting (GHG Emissions Management)

While decarbonizing logistics, the foundation of many industries, is essential to achieving carbon neutrality in many sectors, it is one area where GHG emissions reductions are particularly challenging. In November 2023, the NYK Group issued its NDS, which sets ambitious targets to reduce GHG emissions by 45% from the fiscal 2021 level by fiscal 2030 (Scope 1+2) and to achieve net-zero emissions by fiscal 2050. “Progress Report 2024” is designed to promote interest in and understanding of the possibility of realizing these goals by introducing the Group’s decarbonization efforts and examples of co-creation and their progress.
