The contracts for constructing two new Commissioning Service Operation Vessels (CSOVs) were announced in January 2024. These contracts, signed by Ulstein Verft and JP Morgan Asset Management on behalf of institutional investors, include two additional options.

Embarking on its journey from concept to reality

The 89.6-metre vessels, based on the ULSTEIN SX222 design platform, are tailored to the client’s needs. They feature single cabins for 110 people and total accommodation for 132 people. They will be equipped with a hybrid battery propulsion system and prepared for green methanol fuel, enabling carbon-neutral operations.

With a centrally positioned W2W motion-compensated gangway and elevator tower for personnel and cargo transfers, a 3D compensated crane with a 5-tonne lift capacity, and optimised onboard logistics with large storage capacities, the vessel is ready for a wide range of operations, including Operation & Maintenance and construction support. The hull design ensures excellent seakeeping capabilities in challenging weather and sea conditions.

In September 2024, the TWIN X-STERN, with main propellers positioned at each end, was one of the features that earned Ulstein the ‘Maritime Innovation of the Year’ award. The jury commended the solution as the ‘four-wheel drive of the sea,’ highlighting its forward-thinking design.

Sister vessel

The hull of the first vessel is also currently under construction at Crist, and the steel cutting commenced on 16 May 2024.
