SAAM Towage Brazil earned first place at the inaugural Porto do Itaqui Destaque compliance awards. The initiative, promoted by the Maranhense Port Administration (EMAP), recognizes companies operating in the Port of Itaqui area for implementing regulatory compliance programs.

The Compliance Officer for SAAM Towage Brazil, Sergio Barros, represented the company at the award ceremony and commented, “This recognition reinforces the value the company places on doing things right. This is something we strive for every day in our business and in our relationships with our main stakeholders. We want to strengthen our program daily by strengthening the company’s relationships, policies and actions.”

SAAM’s commitment is materialized through a Comprehensive Ethics and Compliance Management System, which includes a Code of Ethics and a Crime Prevention Model. Some tools available include a whistleblower channel and communication and training programs.
