The Shipping Deputy Minister to the President, Ms. Marina Hadjimanolis, visited Athens between 1-7 June, on the occasion of Cyprus’s participation in the International Maritime Exhibition “Posidonia 2024”.  Within the framework of the exhibition, Ms. Hadjimanolis participated in actions and initiatives aimed at promoting Cyprus Shipping and visited the exhibition stands of Cypriot companies in support of their business initiatives to establish themselves in the global shipping industry, accompanied by the Ambassador of Cyprus in Athens, Mr. Stavros Avgoustidis.

At the same time, during her visit in Athens, the Shipping Deputy Minister, accompanied by officials of the Shipping Deputy Ministry, held meetings with shipping companies and shipowners as part of the continuous communication and consultation with the shipping community and also attended events organised by shipping companies, organisations and Embassies within the framework of the maritime exhibition.

On June 6, the Shipping Deputy Minister participated in an event on ‘The Challenges of Shipping’, organized by the maritime newspaper ‘Akti Miaouli’, under the auspices of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy of Greece. The round table discussion was attended by the Shipping Deputy Minister, the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy of Greece, Mr. Christos Stylianides, the President of the Eugenides Foundation and Goodwill Maritime Ambassador of the IMO, Mr. Leonidas Dimitriadis-Eugenides and the Chief Energy Adviser to the Prime Minister of Greece, Mr. Nikos Tsafos.  During the discussion, Ms. Hadjimanolis, among other things, mentioned that Greece and Cyprus are two important maritime states and have an important role to play in addressing the challenges faced. She added that the cooperation in general between the two countries, but also between the maritime community, should be part of a constructive framework and specific actions and synergies are being launched in this direction.

Finally, on 5 June, Shipping Deputy Minister hosted a reception on the occasion of “Posidonia 2024”, which was attended by shipowners, executives of shipping companies, law and accounting firms, media representatives, as well as associates of the Shipping Deputy Ministry. The reception was also attended by the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy of Greece, Mr. Christos Stylianides.
