Katerina Antoniou, NSE AML Pillar

Katerina is the Deloitte North South Europe | Anti-Money Laundering Pillar for Financial Crime.

Katerina joined Deloitte in 2005 to set up the Compliance Department. She has over 19 years of experience within Deloitte and overall over 30 years of experience in the field of regulatory risk advisory, leading AML/CFT related projects for Supervisory Authorities and numerous financial and other institutions. Katerina prior to joining Deloitte Katerina has spent more than 10 years in a supervisory authority hat, working for the Cyprus Stock Exchange. Before that she qualified as a Chartered Accountant (ACA) in London with Arthur Andersen. Katerina holds BSc and MSc degrees of City University of London, and she is a CAMS ICA and CAP AML specialist.

She was one of the Country’s AML Champions and was member of ICPAC’s AML and Compliance Committee and the Chairwoman of the AML and Compliance Committee of the Cyprus CISI. In the past she has also been a member of the Boards of a number of Official Governmental Committees and has officially represented Cyprus as the auditor’s representative in EU Reforms.
Katerina delivers regular trainings on AML/CFT and Risk Management Programs and is a leading speaker on National and International Compliance Forums, summits and Conferences for AML/CFT, Financial Crime Compliance and Anti-Corruption Matters either as a Solo Presenter or as a speaker or panellist.

Katerina is the Co- Founder and the Vice President of Charisma Foundation for Charismatic Persons with special needs and a special talents, since 2016. She is the proud mother of the very talented Disabled Artist Nefeli Antoniou, the reason for the creation of Charisma Association. Nefeli due to her immense talent, managed to flourish a career in the music industry in Greece and Cyprus, representing Charisma Association in National and International Festivals and Concerts and singing along with Famous Greek Artists such as Protopsalti, Ploutarchos, Maraveyias, Dantis, Hadjinasios and many more, proving that a disability in not incapability but means doing things in a different way.

“CHARISMA” has started its activities aiming to the development, protection, socialisation and integration of persons with special talents and special needs into our society through artistic and sporting events that improve their quality of life.

Who we are

A Non-profit Charity Association founded in 2016. The Association provides free artistic services to “charismatic individuals with special skills”, enabling these individuals to develop and display their talents, helping them escape from social alienation. The Association supports talents in arts such as music, theater, literature, dance, painting, sports and many more.

How our Association was created

The idea for the creation of the Association was born on the occasion of the young Nefeli. Nefeli, at the age of 9, sufferred a serious stroke, which left her with a severe brain damage and incapable of perorming even the simplest of the tasks. Her communication capabiities were also affected and level of understanding was that of a child. Though music and singing Nefeli managed to improve tremendously, regain some of her original abilities, develop self-confidence and self-esteem. She socialized through music, singing and art. Her love for music and her zeal to sing again, became the means to overcome the unequal struggle for survival and recognition.

Nefeli is a living example of what a person can achieve with will, determination and patience. Our Association, guided by Nefeli’s example, was created to support other charismatic individuals for whom art is the only means for expression.
