“Adopt a Ship” educational programme celebrates the adoption of 1000 ships


The Cyprus Shipping Chamber held an event on Wednesday, 17 April 2024, at Columbia Plaza Venue in Limassol to celebrate the adoption of 1000 ships in the context of its “Adopt a Ship” educational programme.

The event was attended by the Shipping Deputy Minister Mrs. Marina Hadjimanoli, a representative from the Ministry of Education, 100 students and 14 teachers from 5 different elementary schools in Limassol.

The program constitutes a unique educational experience aimed at bringing primary school students close to the dynamically developing field of Shipping and the professional activities surrounding it.

At the same time, it seeks to enlighten the public, over the advantages of Shipping, raising overall awareness of its positive and vital role in the economy and society.

This programme is an initiative of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber and CYMEPA and is officially supported by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works as well as the Shipping Deputy Ministry and has been successfully running annually, since 2006.

The event takes place as part of the Chamber’s activities for the 35th anniversary since its establishment in 1989.
