It is represented by a global network of offices, employing over 50 shore-based employees and over 700 seafarers.
Little Heroes
Our Little Heroes are the real heroes of life. These children fight their own battle every day and stand bravely to emerge victorious. Because no child should fight cancer alone!
Loucas Fourlas
WHO WE ARE
- Little Heroes Foundation is a charitable Organization, which launched its activities following an initiative taken by Loukas Fourlas in 2017.
- The Foundation is registered with the Registrar of Associations and Institutions of the Republic of Cyprus pursuant to the Law on Associations and Institutions and other related matters and under number LEY/I/23.
- Little Heroes are true fighters of life and deserve to live with dignity and experience childhood at every stage. They should not be deprived of anything other children of their age enjoy and that is why we become a fist to help them win the battle with the enemy called cancer.
OUR ACTIONS
- We aim at the psychological and above all the financial support of the families of children suffering from cancer and leukemia who are hospitalised in the Pediatric Oncology Department of Makarios Hospital or go abroad for treatment.
- The Foundation was established to promote, support and develop public benefit and charitable actions. It also supports development related to creating infrastructure like buildings, equipment and to conducting research on the fight against cancer.
- The foundation is supported by charity events held by various bodies, organized groups or individuals who wish to support our struggle in practice.
- Every year hundreds of families prefer buying our beautiful bookmarks instead of gifts at their most important moments for their wedding or their child’s christening, contributing, therefore, to our Foundation.
CHILDHOOD CANCER INFORMATION
- Each year, approximately 250,000 children around the world are diagnosed with cancer, of which only 20% have access to proper medical care.
- 70% – 80% of children who have access to specialized treatment come out victorious with the advancement of medicine and due to the adequacy of medicines and qualified scientific staff.
- More than 150,000 deaths each year could have been avoided if early diagnosis and specialist treatment were available to all children.
- The causes of cancer in children and adolescents are, in most cases, unknown
