• Monfort also highlighted the PAV’s commitment to intermodality: “the investments in the railway sector by Power&Co and the Port of Sagunto are going to give a great boost to sustainability thanks to the transport of goods by train”
• At the eMobilty Expo World Congress, hosted by Feria Valencia from 13 to 15 February, the infrastructures and services that position the Valencia exhibition centre as a strategic partner for industry and a pole of attraction for investment in the Valencia Region will be on display

 The commitment to rail, digitalisation, the development of new sustainable infrastructures, the use of green energies and fuels or the investment in research and innovation are some of the projects included in the roadmap of the Valencia Port Authority’s (PAV) ‘Valenciaport Zero Emissions 2030 strategy’. All this is present at the eMobility Expo World Congress being held at Feria Valencia between 13 and 15 February, an event that brings together the entire value chain of mobility of goods and people to share trends and experiences in the sector and respond to the challenges of the future of mobility, through sustainability and technology.

Valenciaport has its own space at the Eco Mobility Expo, with the aim of showing how it is becoming the green, intelligent and innovative hub of the Mediterranean and the steps it is taking to become an emissions-neutral precinct by 2030. Therefore, at this international event, the PAV is presenting the infrastructures and services that position Valenciaport as a strategic ally of industry and a pole of attraction for investment in the Valencian Community.

Intermodality at the heart of sustainability

Arturo Monfort, head of Infrastructure Planning and Port Development at Valenciaport, took part in the round table discussion ‘The importance of mobility in the success of industrial parks: The case of Parc Sagunt’, where he highlighted the PAV’s commitment to intermodality as a tool for achieving the goal of carbon neutrality.

Monfort highlighted the land and maritime connectivity that the Power&Co giga-factory will have, “it will have one of the most complete inter-oceanic connections in the world; those of Valenciaport. A port that concentrates 40% of the import/export connections of the Spanish port system. In addition to the maritime connections, the factory will have first class road and rail connections”. He also stressed the importance of the public/private collaboration and that of all the administrations (central, regional and local) to make this possible: “this coordination has been essential for all the works to be carried out at the same time: the factory, Adif, the intermodal park and the Port infrastructures”.

Power&Co, said Monfort, “is a great revulsive for rail transport. The company has a spectacular sustainability strategy that will boost rail connectivity in an extraordinary way. This, added to the strategy and investments of the Port Authority of Valencia in railway infrastructures, will allow us to make great progress in sustainable logistic transport”. Likewise, he concluded that “when the infrastructures are up and running and the factory is operational, the increase in railway operations will be very significant”.

Arturo Pastor, Deputy Director of Eastern Construction at Adif’s General Directorate of Construction; Teresa Ventura, Director of the Technical Office of Espacios Económicos Empresariales (EEE); and Carla Furquet, Senior Project Manager at PowerCo, participated in the round table together with Monfort. The round table was moderated by MaKo Mira, Regional Secretary of Economy at the Regional Ministry of Finance of the Generalitat Valenciana. This afternoon José Andrés Giménez, Port Logistics Director of Valenciaport, will participate in the round table ‘Smart Ports Spain: towards the future with digital innovation and sustainable commitment’. In addition, Aurelio Lázaro, Senior Project Manager in Energy Transition of the Foundation, will moderate a panel discussion.
