The Cyprus Shipping Chamber announced that its Director General, Mr. Thomas A. Kazakos, is the first Lobbyist to be registered in the Lobbyist Registry of the Independent Anti-Corruption Authority.

The Chamber responded immediately to the Authority’s call from November 2023 for an application for registration in the relevant Register, wanting to support the establishment of a foundational framework and consolidation of transparency regarding public decision-making processes through lobbying.

This special recognition is a confirmation of the Maritime Chamber’s continuous commitment to high standards of transparency, ethics and professionalism in the services it has been providing for 35 years to its Member Companies and Cyprus Shipping.

At the same time, he expresses his sincere thanks to the Independent Anti-Corruption Authority for the approval and the initiative to institutionalise best practices in the field of lobbying, which will further strengthen transparency and integrity, principles which the Chamber has advocated since its establishment.

Finally, the Chamber encourages other Professional Associations as well as more individual consulting firms active in the field of Lobbying to register, in order to widely implement the recently approved law on lobbyists, thus projecting a positive image of Lobbying and Cyprus in general, regarding transparency and accountability.
