Meet our Speakers of the 1st CSN Cyprus ‘Current Shipping Affairs Debate’ – Adam Montanios, Partner – Montanios & Montanios


Cyprus Shipping News is delighted to announce the speakers of the first CSN Cyprus ‘Current Shipping Affairs Debate’ “Are the challenges of 2024 for shipping up for debate?”.

Adam Montanios, Partner – Montanios & Montanios

Adam Montanios was born in Famagusta, Cyprus. He graduated from the Greek Gymnasium of Famagusta and read law at Hull University.

In 1979, he joined M&M as a trainee advocate and was admitted to the Cyprus Bar after passing the pre-qualification exams of the Cyprus Legal Council. He became a Partner in 1986 and is now the Firm’s Managing Partner.

He specialises in all aspects of maritime law, finance, and corporate & commercial matters.

Throughout his career he has represented and advised shipowners, ship managers, ship charterers, lessors and lessees, as well as local and international banks and financial institutions on a range of non-contentious matters, including ship purchase, finance and sale, corporate, asset and project financing.

Adam has contributed articles and the Cyprus chapters in publications on Shipping and Shipping Finance matters and has taken part in international conferences as speaker or moderator on shipping and ship finance panels.

He is the Legal Adviser to the Cyprus Union of Shipowners and is the Chairman of the Maritime Law Committee of the Cyprus Bar Association.


Save the date in your calendar for this promising debate “Are the challenges of 2024 for shipping up for debate?” The shipping industry will be faced with several challenges, in the year ahead with acute interest on the rising cost of fuel, the shortage of labour, the increasing complexity of regulations as well as the threat of cyberattacks. The event will provide a platform for experts to debate these challenges with the participation of the audience hoping for discussion to be an engaging after noon.
