Ignazio Messina & C., the Genoese shipping company, completes a poker hand of full-container ships with the addition of the Jolly Giada to its fleet at the port of Algeciras today. Thanks to this acquisition Messina completed the first cycle of acquisitions in the container vessel market. The new ship is a sister vessel of the Jolly Rosa, acquired in Singapore just before Christmas. Currently undergoing registration in the International Register at the Port Authority of Genoa under the Italian flag, the Jolly Giada is a full-container vessel measuring 260 meters in length and 32 meters in width, boasting a gross tonnage of 42,112 tons and a transport capacity of 4,387 TEUs, including 360 reefer containers; this ship was previously chartered by the Danish company Maersk.

Built by the Korean shipyard Daewoo in 2010, the vessel is under the command of Captain Tommaso Elmetto, leading a crew of 22 individuals, including 14 Italians, 4 from European Union countries, and 4 from non-European Union countries.

Alongside the Jolly Rosa and the full-container ships Jolly Oro and Jolly Argento, which entered service for the company in late 2023, Ignazio Messina & C. now deploys a compact and homogeneous fleet for container transport on traditional routes. The Jolly Giada is initially scheduled for service in the Mediterranean, Red Sea, East Africa and South Africa routes.
