LG Electronics has announced plans to showcase the future of smart homes powered by artificial intelligence (AI) at the world’s largest consumer electronics and IT exhibition, CES 2024, scheduled for January 9.

The LG Smart Home utilizes AI to comprehensively understand and care for the customer’s life. For instance, using cameras and millimeter-wave (mmWave) sensors in home appliances, the system can detect heart rate and breathing patterns. Based on this data, AI will assess the customer’s health and automatically adjust indoor temperature and humidity to create a more comfortable environment. If a customer brings home a pet cat, the camera, microphone, and mmWave sensors will detect its presence, prompting LG UP appliances to automatically download “Pet Mode” or suggest purchasing a dedicated pet accessory kit.

Additionally, sensors placed throughout the house will switch appliances in unused spaces to power-saving mode. When the house is empty, unnecessary appliances are turned off to save electricity, and a security mode is activated to detect unusual activities and notify the owner via smartphone.

LG ThinQ acts as a service platform in the future smart home, connecting sensors and IoT devices installed throughout the house. It automatically controls these devices, providing optimal care for the customer without the need for manual operation.
