Almost a thousand children from the Port of València have started their classes with the help of Aportem- Puerto Solidario València. As every year, these last few months have been particularly intense for the association. The campaign for the start of the school year for the children of the Maritime District has meant a total mobilisation of human and economic resources within this association for the promotion of Social Responsibility.

The campaign has once again focused on obtaining, above all, school materials, clothes and footwear, all brand new, to make the start of the school year easier in the different schools with which Aportem collaborates, year after year, on a constant basis. Thus, a total of 864 children, from Infant to Secondary, from six schools in the Maritime District, have received all kinds of school supplies for the start of the 2023-2024 school year.

In addition, children from the Port area who have greater difficulty accessing clothing and footwear have once again benefited from the collaboration of Aportem, which has provided them with 185 tracksuits, 172 sets of T-shirts and sports bibs, 305 winter jackets, 94 sweatshirts, and 393 pairs of trainers. Hygiene materials and basic food for another 61 children from zero to three years of age have also been provided, all distributed through Caritas and the Santa Ana Nursery.

In addition to these school material, clothing and footwear campaigns, three infant classrooms at the Santiago Apóstol school have been air-conditioned. Giant fans have been installed in these facilities so that the children can attend classes in better environmental conditions, which is especially valuable in view of the recurrent heat waves we have been suffering. Aportem – Puerto Solidario València, which this year celebrates its tenth anniversary, is an association declared of public utility, totally private, made up of associations, institutions, companies and individuals linked to the port sector and the Maritime District of Valencia. Its activities are mainly focused on the area around the Port of Valencia, with special attention to environmental care and children at risk of social exclusion.
