Cyprus Candidate Despina Panayiotou Theodosiou receives the IMO Gender Equality Award


The International Maritime Organisation (IMO), which is a specialised agency of the United Nations responsible for the safety and protection of International Shipping, held on Thursday, 23 November 2023, the 130th Session of its Council, during which Despina Panayiotou Theodosiou, Board Member of the Shipping Chamber and Chief Executive Officer of Tototheo Maritime Ltd, was honoured with the IMO Gender Equality Award. The selection of the Cyprus candidate for this award is of particular importance, as it is awarded for the first time by the Organisation.

This prestigious award is a testament to Mrs. Theodosiou unwavering dedication in promoting and empowering women and fostering a culture of equality, beyond gender stereotypes and prejudices, in the Maritime sector.

The Chamber warmly congratulates Mrs. Theodosiou for her well-deserved recognition, whichhonors not only her but also for the entire Cyprus Shipping Industry, adding yet another recognition and further promotes the image of Cyprus at a global level.
