Valenciaport is updating its cruise strategy for the coming months with the aim of carrying out sustainable management in both the social and environmental areas in terms of cruises. To this end, it has attended the International Cruise Summit 2023 held in Madrid this week.

At this event, the main cruise executives and delegates from all sectors of the industry addressed the fundamental issues and key areas to work on for the coming year. In doing so, Valenciaport has gained an updated view of the factors affecting decision-making for the future. Geopolitical issues that modify itineraries, sustainability and new developments – with an eye on the markets of the future and sales strategies – together with the new profiles of cruise passengers were the main topics dealt with at this Summit attended by Mar Chao, President of the Port Authority of València, and Francesca Antonelli, Head of Marketing and Cruises at Valenciaport.

Valenciaport, a medium-sized, sustainable and family cruise port, has developed a decentralised value proposition aimed at a family and business public, sectors far removed from the conurbations. With the aim of maintaining this character, the PAV participates in events such as this congress as they allow it to promote collaboration between ports and destinations in terms of cruises and to publicise its projects in relevant areas for this industry such as: the OPS (Onshore Power Supply) solutions of the Port of Valencia, the advances in accessibility made in the port environment or the decentralisation of tourism that lands in the city, avoiding concentrations and promoting the natural and intangible heritage in other parts of the province. Valenciaport also attended a conference organised by CLIA Spain where Alfredo Serrano, director of CLIA in Spain, presented the state of the cruise industry at national level and Caroline Laurene, general director of CLIA in Europe, explained the latest trends in the sector in terms of the environment and the roles of both shipping companies and ports in the decarbonisation strategy of the Spanish port system.
