The Port of Grimsby’s heritage buildings add authenticity and character to any film or TV set

Associated British Ports will have a presence at FOCUS 2023 London for the first time.

The leading UK ports operator will exhibit at the film production event held at the Business Design Centre, London from 5 to 6 December on Stand L5.

Simon Bird, Regional Director said: “ABP are excited to be exhibiting at FOCUS for the first time. We have dipped our toe in to the film location market for our ports, but notably Grimsby and it makes sense to be a part of the UK’s largest locations event.”

The team heading to the event will be led by Greg Lacey, Head of Property, who will be joined by Corporate Communications Manager, Emma Lingard, responsible for film location enquiries, and other members of the property team.

Greg added: “We are delighted to be attending FOCUS for the first time. The ports are a great location offering many opportunities. Our focus has been on the historic area of the Port of Grimsby nicknamed the Kasbah, and we’re keen to share with producers, and location managers about our film friendly locations.

“We want to talk to potential operators who are interested in studio space as we explore a film and TV quarter at the port which has 20 acres of development land, making it a prominent regeneration and place making site within the port boundary.”

The Humber ports are best placed for film locations offering contemporary and historic buildings and waterside locations. Recently the Port of Grimsby appeared as the east end of London in Netflix’s acclaimed sci-fi crime drama series Bodies.

It has also appeared as a location in Three Day Millionaire, This Is England and Atonement, as well as an episode of Wheeler Dealers.

The Grimsby port location offers a private estate with good control of access with no road closure issues, 24/7 security with CCTV, plenty of onsite parking availability, production office space and with good road and rail links to Manchester, and London.
