WISTA Cyprus celebrates its 11th Annual General Meeting with a focus on sustainability and diversity


The Women’s International Shipping & Trading Association (WISTA) Cyprus proudly convened its 11th Annual General Meeting in Limassol. This significant event, graced by the esteemed Shipping Deputy Minister, Mrs. Marina Hadjimanoli, and representatives from the Office of the Commissioner for Gender Equality, Mrs Josie Christodoulou, marked a celebration of shared visions and continued commitment to the maritime sector.

Mrs. Natalia Bury Loyal, President of WISTA Cyprus, presented the annual report, highlighting the organization’s dedication to reinforcing its presnce within Cyprus’ maritime ecosystem and providing enhanced value to its members. She stressed the importance of collaborative efforts among governmental bodies, institutions, and private corporations in nurturing a diverse and inclusive maritime environment, where knowledge exchange is fundamental for sustainable development.

During the AGM, WISTA Cyprus held its elections for Board of Directors, during which Mrs. Monica Potsou was re-elected as Treasurer for another two-year term, and Mrs. Korina Christoforou assumed the role of Young Board Affiliate for a one-year term. The new board, comprising esteemed professionals from diverse maritime sectors, reflects WISTA Cyprus’s commitment to leadership and diversity.

Board Member: Rafaella Yiangou – Business Development Manager, Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI)
Young Board Affiliate: Korina Christoforou – Legal Officer, Uniteam Marine

The highlight for the upcoming year is the hosting of the WISTA International AGM and Conference in Limassol in October 2024. This prestigious event promises to gather international experts from various segments of the shipping and trading industries, reinforcing Cyprus’s status as a leading maritime hub.
