Stolt Tankers is pleased to announce it has achieved certification to the International Energy Management System Standard ISO 50001, which is designed to improve quality and environmental management.

The globally recognised ISO 50001 certification is a voluntary standard that is awarded when a company demonstrates that it has an effective energy management system in place. It is aimed at businesses who have committed to making better use of energy-intensive assets by improving their energy performance. This isn’t restricted to reducing fuel consumption – it’s about using energy in the most efficient way so that we use less resources to achieve the same result.

Ivo Verstrepen, Quality Assurance and Environment Manager, said: “This standard helps us drive towards our energy efficiency goals, which is also beneficial to our customers as it helps to reduce their scope 3 emissions. The integrated management system not only helps us on our journey to further improve and streamline our efforts, but also provides recognition to those who are driving these initiatives on a technical level.”

Examples of specific measures implemented by Stolt Tankers include conducting effective energy efficiency audits since 2011, establishing a dedicated energy conservation team to monitor and share relevant ship and fleet information, engine fuel oil consumption analysis of our ships and the introduction of programmes to help reduce the overall energy consumption onboard our ships.
