Top executives within the Danish maritime industry met today to discuss how to address the serious challenge of bullying and harassment on board Danish-flagged ships and ensure a safe and healthy working environment for all.

The meeting is part of an ongoing process to secure a safer and more inclusive working environment on Danish-flagged ships.

“There can be no doubt that the members of Danish Shipping take the issue of bullying and harassment very seriously. I see a great deal of commitment in addressing this type of completely unacceptable behavior. It is top of mind at the highest levels in the shipping companies,” says Anne Windfeldt Trolle, Director of Labor, Recruitment, and Education at Danish Shipping.

The goal of the series of meetings is to provide a set of recom­men­da­tions for necessary actions and initiatives in this area to the working group comprising the Danish Maritime Authority, employers, and labor unions, which Minister of Industry, Business and Financial Affairs Morten Bødskov established after a study by the Ministry earlier this year revealed serious challenges in this area.

“This is a challenge that we can only solve together. I look forward to continuing the dialogue with the companies, the Minister, the Danish Maritime Authority, and the relevant labor unions,” says Anne Windfeldt Trolle.
