Get set for festival atmosphere at Fred Olsen’s fleet in Funchal celebrations

The garden island of Madeira will host Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines' Fleet in Funchal event

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines is preparing to celebrate an historic coming together of its fleet of ships.

The cruise line’s three smaller ships, Bolette, Borealis and Balmoral, will all be sailing into Funchal, Madeira, for the Fleet in Funchal celebration on 9th November.

The trio will dock alongside each other, and a series of hand-crafted events will take place to enable the ships’ guests to get the most out of their visit to the beautiful garden island.

Peter Deer, Managing Director of Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, said:

“This will be only the third time that our fleet has converged in one place, with the last event, Captains in Cadiz, taking place five years ago.

“This year marks the 175th anniversary of Fred. Olsen’s start as a shipping company and we are delighted to be celebrating with this wonderful event in Funchal.

“Every single thing we have learnt over the past 175 years, goes into every single day of sailing with us, and this event will showcase everything that makes sailing with Fred. Olsen special and unique.”

The day promises to be packed full of Fred. Olsen celebrations with entertainment on the quayside creating a vibrant carnival atmosphere both on board and ashore.

Activities include an exclusive treasure hunt around the city for guests, live music, competitions, battle of the bartenders and an inter-ship tug of war.

Guests will also have the opportunity to step aboard and explore all three ships, meet the crew and celebrate with fellow travellers.

The day will end as Bolette, Borealis and Balmoral all sail out of Funchal together for an unforgettable sailaway party into the sunset.

Running until Tuesday, 26th September, guests booking to the Fleet in Funchal cruises can enjoy a free all-inclusive drinks package.
