Valenciaport participates in the CLIA Spain summit ‘Port and Destination’ and in the fair ‘Seatrade Europe’

  • The Spanish delegation of the Cruise Lines International Association has held a summit in Hamburg to discuss the main challenges of the cruise sector. The Port Authority of València  has participated in this event providing its experience in environmental and social sustainability
  • After this event, the PAV is present in the same German city from today until September 8 at the ‘Seatrade Europe’ meeting where it will promote the cruise services of the Valencian precinct and nearby destinations

After confirming that in 2023 cruise tourism has been consolidated in Valenciaport with 122,000 passengers more (compared to the previous year) attracted by an offer that facilitates mobility and avoids saturation, the Port Authority of València (PAV) begins the course in Hamburg with strong presence in two major events: CLIA Spain ‘Port & Destination’ and the fair ‘Seatrade Europe’.

The CLIA Spain ‘Port & Destination’ summit was held in the German city on a day prior to the ‘Seatrade Europe’ Convention (from 6 to 8 September). The objective of this meeting is that members of the cruise companies and Executive Partners of CLIA Spain address the present and future challenges of Spanish ports and destinations. At this meeting, Mar Chao, Commercial and Business Development Director of the Port Authority of València, and Francesca Antonelli, Head of Marketing and Cruises, represented Valenciaport, which contributed its experience in environmental and social sustainability.

The sector is holding this conference with the aim of finding increasingly sustainable solutions in terms of alternative energies, circular economy and innovation, and is taking note of the practices of the main cruise ports. “Valenciaport has a lot to contribute to sustainability because it has been working for years with all its stakeholders in all these areas,” Antonelli said.

Valencian tourism promotion

After this appointment, the PAV is also present in the same German city from today until September 8 at the meeting ‘Seatrade Europe’ where it will present the available berths and cruise services of the Valencian enclosure.

Also, to promote the destination, Valenciaport has presented a wide range of tourist offer with the aim that the Valencian municipalities benefit from the positive impact of cruises and decentralize the tourist offer. “The shipping companies confirm us Valenciaport is positioned in their surveys as a pleasant destination for all ages,” said Antonelli. The ‘Seatrade Europe’ fair is an international cruise and river cruise fair held every two years in Hamburg.  It features all the world’s cruise lines, all destinations and suppliers from all sectors of river and deep-sea cruising.
