Hurtigruten Expeditions opens Shanghai office and appoints Industry Heavy Hitters to Global Commercial Team

Alex Delamere-White becomes Chief Commercial Officer, Hurtigruten Expeditions
Hurtigruten Expeditions announced investments in its expedition business, further fuelling its long-term growth in the adventure travel sector. The moves include appointing a new Chief Commercial Officer, Alex Delamere-White as part of the Hurtigruten Expeditions Executive Leadership Team and opening a regional sales office in Shanghai.
A well-seasoned FTSE 100 leader in travel, leisure, and hospitality, Alex brings with him a broad range of cruise experience having led multi-site sales and marketing teams, e-commerce as well as loyalty programs for Carnival UK including P&O Cruises, Cunard, and Princess Cruises for over a decade. Most recently he was Chief Commercial Officer for McCarthy Stone, a leading property developer.
“Bringing this depth of industry talent into our global, commercial team at a time when we are seeing incredible interest in our expedition products, will continue to strengthen our position,” said Daniel Skjeldam, CEO, Hurtigruten Group.
Based out of the London office, Alex will lead a team on an interim basis that has been bolstered with industry sales talent including the newly appointed Nathaniel Sherborne V.P. of Sales and Marketing, UK, and Nordics, formerly Carnival UK.
In addition, Hurtigruten Expeditions has expanded its APAC division with four new team members serving Greater China giving the business a firm, physical footprint in the world’s fastest-growing travel market. Led by APAC Managing Director Damian Perry, the company has named Joe Zoe as China Sales Director responsible for Greater China (Mainland China, Taiwan & Hong Kong) and Sabrina (Hui) Ju, Nora (Junru) Huang, Yolan (Yan) Wang and Belle (Sijia) Liu as members of the sales team. The global team will be fully underway by August 1st.
Hurtigruten Expeditions, the world leader in exploration travel founded in 1896 takes guests to over 250 spectacular destinations in more than 30 countries worldwide. It recently unveiled new, immersive expedition cruises including a series that combines the Patagonian fjords with Antarctica and voyages that include the Falkland Islands and South Georgia. The company is also a pioneer in sustainability and launched the first-ever hybrid expedition ship, Roald Amundsen (2019), and today, three of its seven vessels are hybrid powered, a €450m investment.
