Lifting the standard for customers in a changing market says APM Terminals’ CEO Keith Svendsen

In this third episode of exclusive interviews with APM Terminals’ CEO, Keith Svendsen, we reflect on his first year at the helm of the company, discuss the further normalisation of the market and recap on immediate priorities and focus areas for APM Terminals.

One of the things that Keith is most proud of is the progress made on safety, where all indicators are moving in the right direction. APM Terminals’ CEO also highlights the highest ever NPS (Net Promoter Score) for the company, which is the result of great teamwork across the company and a very important accomplishment, given customer experience is a key focus for the company. During the interview he highlights the company’s reduction in port stay time for shipping line customers, where APM Terminals has made double-digit improvements.

In terms of making APM Terminals more efficient, good progress has been made on automation, Just in Time and Flow operations, as well matching capacity to a fluctuating market. Finally, decarbonisation is progressing according to plan, despite obstacles in the industry. Keith Svendsen also confirms that APM Terminals remains on its growth trajectory, with exciting new projects and numerous facility upgrades.

In the short term, focus areas for APM Terminals remain a strong focus on customers, continuing efforts to improve efficiency and growing the company.
