Human Rights at Sea awarded Human Rights Advocacy Group of the Year


Human Rights at Sea has been recognised for its dedication to promoting and protecting human rights at sea and awarded the ‘Maritime Human Rights Advocacy Group of the Year 2023 by Acquisition International.

Acquisition International said, “They each put the welfare of individuals before all else, and it shows.”  

This recognition fairly reflects nine years of tireless work in advocating for the human rights of all people at sea worldwide. Working with governments, states, organisations, and individuals to create lasting, positive change on national, regional and global levels.

Human Rights at Sea challenges injustice, defends freedom, and campaigns to ensure every individual who lives, works and moves across our world’s oceans are treated fairly.

David Hammond, CEO of Human Rights at Sea, expressed his gratitude for the recognition and said, “I want to say a big thank you to all of the staff, volunteers, and supporters who do an amazing job at continuing to deliver our mission. This isn’t just about recognition for Human Rights at Sea but, more importantly, is another step towards public recognition of the estimated 30 million people at sea who deserve to have their human rights respected and protected.”

Human Rights at Sea is committed to ending human rights abuses at sea and will continue to push the boundaries and deliver on its efforts to promote and protect human rights in the maritime environment.
