DNV appoints new Area Manager for Iberia, Italy and Malta

DNV, the world’s leading classification society, is pleased to announce that Jose Maria Izquierdo will step into the role of Area Manager for Iberia, Italy and Malta with effect from 1 June 2023. He succeeds Lucas Ribeiro, who was appointed Regional Manager for West Europe in March.

The maritime industry in Spain is currently witnessing a paradigm shift, with emerging opportunities and challenges as the country strives for a greener, more sustainable future. To support its customers and the industry to achieve their strategic goals, DNV has appointed Jose Maria Izquierdo Area Manager for Iberia, Italy and Malta.
“I am delighted to congratulate Jose Maria on his appointment,” says Lucas Ribeiro, Regional Manager for West Europe. “With an impressive background and extensive experience in DNV, Jose Maria is poised to contribute valuable insights and leadership to support our customers. Especially in addressing the challenges of decarbonization and digitalization facing the industry.”
Jose Maria Izquierdo is based in Madrid, Spain, where he will lead key initiatives to enhance customer engagement and ensure that DNV remains at the forefront of the maritime industry in the Area Iberia, Italy, and Malta.
“Our customers are navigating a new dynamic landscape – dealing with new materials and manufacturing methods, alternative fuels, offshore wind projects, cyber security, data collection and analysis, and artificial intelligence,” says Jose Maria Izquierdo, Area Manager for Iberia, Italy, and Malta. “This is a transformation on a scale that might be unprecedented in the history of our industry. I am very proud to be leading a team of experts with the deep technical knowledge, insights and innovation needed to support them on this new journey.”
Jose Maria Izquierdo graduated from the Polytechnic University of Madrid. He began his journey with DNV in 1994 as CMC and FIS Surveyor based in the Barcelona office. In 2014, he assumed the role of Station Manager for Spain’s east coast, overseeing the operations of DNV’s offices in Barcelona, Valencia and Cartagena. Before being appointed Area Manager, Iberia, Italy and Malta, in 2019 he was the NB & CMC Service Line Manager for Iberia.
