Inmarsat Government receives 2023 DCSA James S. Cogswell Award

DCSA’s Most Prestigious Honor Recognizes Cleared Facilities for Industrial Security Excellence

Inmarsat Government, a Viasat business and the leading provider of secure, global, mission-critical telecommunications to the U.S. government, today announced its selection as a James S. Cogswell Outstanding Industrial Security Achievement Award recipient from the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA). These awards recognize cleared facilities that have demonstrated industrial security excellence and are the most prestigious honor the DCSA can bestow to cleared industry.

To be eligible for the Cogswell Awards, cleared facilities must meet a number of criteria, including establishing and maintaining a security program that far exceeds the basic National Industrial Security Program requirements; and providing leadership to other cleared facilities in establishing best practices while maintaining the highest standards for security.

Security and cybersecurity are central to everything that Inmarsat Government does. Inmarsat Government counters cyber threats by combining trained personnel, established secure processes and industry leading security technology.

Leighton Quick, Vice President of Security, Inmarsat Government, said: “Inmarsat Government’s work supporting U.S. Government missions requires us to adhere to the most stringent security and cybersecurity standards. This recognition from the DCSA highlights our ability to not only meet, but exceed security mandates and ensure the highest levels of operational security for our customers’ operations.”

Susan Miller, Chief Executive Officer, Inmarsat Government, said “Inmarsat Government’s unwavering commitment to security is one of the many reasons that U.S. government agencies have trusted us as their satellite communications partners for more than 40 years. I am proud of our team’s work to meet the Cogswell Award’s stringent requirements and ensure that our customers can carry out their missions with the confidence that their classified information, materials and programs are secure.”
