
The Cyprus Shipping Chamber participated in consecutive Shipping related meetings abroad, actively representing the Cyprus Shipping Industry.
On 16 June, the Chamber’s Director General, Mr. Thomas Kazakos, participated as part of the Cyprus delegation, at the Annual General Meeting of the European Community Shipowners’ Associations (ECSA), which was held in Stockholm, Sweden, under the presidency of the Cypriot shipowner, Mr. Philippos Philis, discussing the current issues concerning European Shipping.
On 27 June, the Chamber’s President, Mr. Themis Papadopoulos and its Director General, represented the Cyprus Shipping Industry at the Annual General Meeting of the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), which took place in Manila, Philippines.
The meeting focused on the strategic goals of the Association on shipping policy issues, environmental regulations agenda and other upcoming developments affecting global shipping.
During the General Meeting, the Chamber’s President, Mr. Themis Papadopoulos, was re-appointed as Vice Chairman of the International Chamber of Shipping for another two years, confirming the recognition and respect of the International Shipping Community towards the Cyprus Shipping Chamber and its President, which also benefits Cyprus Shipping and our country, in general.
In addition, the Cyprus Shipping Chamber, through its President, Mr. Papadopoulos, acted as a coordinator, the previous day, 26 June, in the specialised conference organised by the International Chamber of Shipping entitled: “Shaping the Future of Shipping – Seafarer 2050”, discussing the actions required to successfully further develop the skills of seafarers to meet the needs of Shipping in the future.
