Ariane 5 is ready for its final mission


Flight VA261 will be the 117th and last ever mission of European heavy-lift launcher Ariane 5

The last lift-off of the Ariane 5 rocket is scheduled for Friday June 16.

The launch, operated by Arianespace, will carry the German Heinrich Hertz communications satellite for testing new technologies in space and the French Syracuse 4B military communications satellites.

The Ariane 5 mission will last 33 minutes and 31 seconds and place both payloads into a geostationary orbit.
