Stolt Tankers signs up to 25 by 25 pledge

Stolt Tankers is pleased to announce that we have joined the 25 by 25 pledge. With this, we have committed to conducting 25% of our trade using electric bills of lading  by 2025, further accelerating the digital transition from traditional paper bills of lading.

The 25 by 25 pledge is an initiative of international shipping association, BIMCO (Baltic and International Maritime Council). With this undertaking, BIMCO aims to improve efficiency in the maritime industry, at the same time as giving a boost to sustainability.

“There are a number of benefits associated with transitioning to eBLs. Amongst these are a reduced reliance on letters of indemnity and, thereby, less chance of exposure to commercial and legal risks.

“Additionally, the increased efficiency of eBLs leads to faster delivery and, ultimately, to improved service to our customers. Not least, eBLs are not required to be delivered by courier, reducing the overall emissions associated with the delivery of paperwork.”
