MSC’s ScanBaltic to USA service begins calling JAXPORT

The first ship in MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company’s European ScanBaltic to USA service began calling JAXPORT with the arrival of MSC England on Sunday. SSA Atlantic provided stevedoring services at the SSA Jacksonville Container Terminal (JCT) at JAXPORT’s Blount Island Marine Terminal.

The bi-weekly, direct European container service calls seven destinations in Northern Europe. The port rotation is Klaipeda, Lithuania; Gdynia, Poland; Gothenburg, Sweden; Bremerhaven, Germany; Felixstowe, England; Antwerp, Belgium; Le Havre, France; New York; Philadelphia; Norfolk; Jacksonville; and Klaipeda.

“We are grateful for MSC’s long-term partnership as we continue to experience growth at our terminals,” said JAXPORT Chief Commercial Officer Robert Peek. “We are excited about this service addition which provides shippers and customers more routes to move their cargo to key markets.”

Common commodities on this service may include food and beverage, automotive parts, and forest products.

ScanBaltic to USA is MSC’s fifth container service at JAXPORT. MSC also offers existing service from JAXPORT to destinations in Asia through the 2M Alliance; a North America service, Canada Gulf Bridge; and two Caribbean services, Bahamas Express and Florida Gulf Feeder.

Located in the heart of the Southeast U.S., JAXPORT is Florida’s No. 1 container port by volume and one of the nation’s top vehicle-handling ports. Jacksonville offers a 47-foot deepwater shipping channel, two-way ship traffic with no berth or terminal congestion, and same-day access to 98 million U.S. consumers.
