Tony Hynes appointed as the new CEO of Aurelia Turbines

Tony Hynes has been appointed as the new CEO of Aurelia Turbines. Mr Hynes, originally from the UK, has been Aurelia’s Commercial Director for over seven years. Prior to that, he held senior executive and director level positions at a number of international turbine and energy companies.

‘Hynes is a broadly experienced executive whose international experience will be put to full use at Aurelia, now that large-scale deliveries around the world have begun’, said Bryce Fort, Aurelia’s Chairman of the Board.

Matti Malkamäki, who has been the CEO since the beginning, has stepped down for personal reasons. He will continue as a member of the company’s Board of Directors. Malkamäki will also continue in his other current roles representing Aurelia on the steering committees of Hydrogen Cluster Finland and the hydrogen network BotH2nia and as a member of the European Clean Hydrogen Alliance roundtables.

‘I am delighted that Hynes will start leading Aurelia in its new growth phase. As growth accelerates and the hydrogen market rapidly expands, Aurelia will have a CEO in Hynes who will be fully focused on accelerating Aurelia’s international growth’, says Malkamäki.

Aurelia Turbines has supplied gas turbines using hydrogen and other fuels to customers in Germany, Mexico and Taiwan. Production will continue and will expand further at the company’s headquarters in Lappeenranta, but regional partners will also contribute to building turbines in other countries in the near future.

‘I thank Malkamäki for his work to date as Aurelia’s founder and CEO in driving growth from the company’s beginning, and I attach great importance to his expertise and his network’s continued availability to Aurelia, through his membership on the Board of Directors’, says Fort.
