Hurtigruten and the OSM Foundation are partners towards community empowerment

300 indigent children from a far-flung mountain region in the Philippines received school bags and school supplies from Hurtigruten Foundation through OSM Foundation’s Initiatives for Social Development (ISD) Program. The Program aims to support the least-assisted children and schools to have access to quality education equipped with sufficient school items.

The beneficiary town named Asipulo in Ifugao Province is among the most challenged municipalities in the country. The presence of Hurtigruten and OSM in the community is the first intervention of private organizations in their recorded history, said the local teachers. Access to most villages in the community requires trekking miles of mountain trails to reach them. On top of the school bags, the community library was built to support the children’s reading comprehension and further interest in learning.

Since 2021, more than 900 children already benefited from the social responsibility partnership between OSM Foundation and Hurtigruten.
