MOL to participate in JAWFP corporate program as a partner in supporting People’s Lives

MOL announced its agreement with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) mission to eradicate hunger and poverty, and its intent to support WFP activities. MOL has decided to participate in the Corporate Program (Note) of the Japan Association for the World Food Programme (JAWFP), a certified NPO supporting WFP in Japan, as a “Contributor” for three years starting from March 2023.
MOL has developed its business as a social infrastructure corporate group centered on the ocean shipping industry, under the corporate mission, “From the blue oceans, we sustain people’s lives and ensure a prosperous future.” The company also sets one of its sustainability issues (materiality), “Human & Community -Contributing to the growth and development of people and communities-,” aiming to coexist in harmony with all of the group’s various stakeholders and promote the sustainable growth and development of local communities.
WFP is the leading humanitarian organization saving lives and changing lives, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience. As an expert in logistics, WFP excels in the transportation of humanitarian assistance and personnel, storage and management of goods, making its global capacity and expertise available to UN agencies, NGOs and governments during emergency relief efforts.
The MOL Group will address the social issues of food aid to developing countries and support for community resilience building through its collaboration with JAWFP, to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.
