Piraeus Port Authority’s decision for the grant of space and equipment to cover the housing needs of the Underwater Operations Unit of the Greek Ministry of Shipping and Insular Policy is fully aligned with the company’s corporate social responsibility strategy. More specifically, the grant involves the “pentagonal hall”, part of the former “Pagoda” exhibition center, comprising an area of 2,800 sq.m., where fifteen prefabricated isobox houses of 25 sq.m. each were placed, alongside an outdoor area of 530 sq.m. and three containers to be used as storage spaces.

It should be noted that PPA S.A. implemented on its own expenses the works for the redesigning and equipment of the granted spaces in order to become operational and able to temporarily accommodate the housing needs of the Underwater Operations Unit, until it is transferred to its new premises.
Following this significant decision, in a special event held on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at the Pentagon Hall, Pagoda area an honorary plaque was awarded to PPA Chairman Mr. Yu Zenggang by the Minister of Shipping & Insular Policy Mr. Ioannis Plakiotakis, in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Shipping & Insular Policy Mr. Kostas Katsafados, the Secretary General of Ports, Port Policy & Maritime Investments Mr. Evangelos Kyriazopoulos, the Chief of the Hellenic Coast Guard Mr. Georgios Alexandrakis and the Commander of the Underwater Operations Unit, Mr. Ioannis Papadakis.

The Minister of Shipping and Insular Policy Mr. Plakiotakis thanked the Piraeus Port Authority for its continuous support and especially the Chairman of PPA S.A. Mr. Yu Zenggang for his contribution to the development of the local community.

PPA Chairman Mr. Yu Zenggang, during the event, upon receiving the honorary plaque on behalf of the company, stated that as emphasized many times in the past in relevant occasions, such initiatives are a constant priority and a main pillar of PPA’s overall strategy toward the creation of value for all stakeholders, clearly translating into an ongoing return to society and a contribution to high quality development of the national economy.
