Crew restrictions return in India and Japan following China easing

The Global Maritime Forum (GMF) reports that the rise in Covid-19 infections, following the lifting of restrictions in China, has led to some countries, including India and Japan, to introduce new test requirements and restrictions for seafarers arriving from certain Asian countries.

India now requires all travellers from China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Singapore and Thailand to produce a negative RT-PCT test, which must be taken 72 hours prior to departure. Japan has introduced tests on all travellers leaving China within the previous seven days. Any seafarers testing positive will be placed in quarantine for seven days.

The Club recommends that Members contact the local agent or correspondent for the latest port requirements before their ship calls at any port in Asia.
