Kalmar and Holmen Iggesund Paperboard sign three year extension to comprehensive cooperation agreement for log-handling operations

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has agreed an extension to a large three-year cooperation agreement originally signed in 2019 with Holmen Iggesund, part of the Holmen Group. The extension, which is for a further three years plus an optional 12-month extension, will come into effect at the start of Q2 2023. The order was booked in Cargotec’s Q4 2022 order intake.

Iggesund Mill on Sweden’s east coast is one of the most advanced fully integrated pulp and paperboard mills in the world. Under the tailored partnership agreement, Kalmar assumes full responsibility for the customer’s log handling operations, ensuring the availability of equipment, tools and professional resources.

Tomas Nilsson, Site Manager, Iggesund Mill: “Our tailored agreement with Kalmar has allowed us to focus on our core business and add greater value for our end customers. This contract extension provides us with peace of mind as we will continue to benefit from optimal uptime for our log handling equipment, high quality maintenance support and skilled operators as well as the latest software to optimise our logistics processes. Both parties in this agreement are striving to reduce the use of fossil fuels as well as the CO2 footprint.”

Niklas Henriksson, Regional Service Manager, Kalmar Sweden: “We are proud to continue our long standing collaboration with this important customer in the Swedish market. Our cooperation with Holmen Iggesund started in 2019 and it has been highly successful since then. We have demonstrated our ability to take full responsibility for a critical part of the customer’s operations with a complete, tailored solution that supports operational improvements. Moving forward, as part of this agreement extension we are fully committed to supporting Holmen Iggesund with their transition towards more sustainable operations.”
