Explore a health and wellness cruise at sea

What is a health and wellness cruise?

Wellness on board

Professionally trained masseuses^ on board can pinpoint niggling aches you may have to help unknot any tension in your body. With a variety of different massage techniques, from sports massages to Swedish massages, you’ll quickly feel rejuvenated after a session of composure with an expert Emerald Cruises masseuse.
If a relaxing sauna is more your thing, you’ll want to spend some time unwinding in our state-of-the-art infrared sauna. A more comfortable and targeted experience than a traditional sauna, the infrared beams raise your core body temperature without the need for extreme heat, and can help to improve the health of your heart, your immune system, and blood circulation.
Once you’re feeling loose and limber, a salon session^ courtesy of our expert beauty therapists will awaken your best self. Sit back while the professionals reinvigorate you with a relaxing facial, manicure, or pedicure. And, if you want to try out a completely new look, why not ask the on board Emerald Cruises hairdresser to provide you with a new, cutting edge style?
To ensure your health and wellness cruise is all-encompassing, you’ll also have access to our well-equipped gym, perfect for early morning workouts or getting in some gentle exercise to round off your day. On select mornings and evenings, your activity manager and wellness coach will arrange for yoga sessions on the Observation Deck, where you can revel in the sun and take in the fresh ocean breeze as you find your centre.
And, of course, the pools are always a highlight. Emerald Azzurra and Emerald Sakara boast an infinity-style Aqua Pool for getting your laps in or for revelling in the cool waters, plus an invigorating Spa Pool that’s perfect for simply relaxing in the sunshine.

Relaxing on a cruise

Emerald Azzurra and Emerald Sakara make relaxing on a cruise simple. The Observation Lounge is the perfect setting for a chill reading session—especially if you struggle to find the time to tackle your reading list when at home. From the cosy nook of your plush armchair, you’ll have unparalleled views of the stunning waters, which provide a calming backdrop while you lose yourself in a good story. Alternatively, head out to the Observation Deck where the ocean breeze and salty sea air offers an exhilarating rush.
When the mood strikes you, make your way up to the Sky Bar where you can enjoy an eye-catching, mouth-watering cocktail, a selection of fine wines, or your favourite beer or spirit. You won’t be short of company on deck, so why not get to know your fellow guests and raise a toast to new-found friends?
We appreciate that delectable dishes also go a long when it comes to relaxing on a cruise, which is why our expert chefs provide a selection of gourmet cuisine, whether you’re in the mood for a light bite, a home favourite, or dish inspired by the destination you’re travelling from. Rest assured that meals on board are cooked using fresh, local ingredients, with many of the sumptuous wines also coming from regional vineyards.
Blue spaces: The importance of water on our mental wellbeing
Blue spaces are natural and man-made areas near open bodies of water. Environmental psychologists believe they can be even better for our mental health than green spaces, with studies over the last decade showing that people feel happier when near seas and rivers.
During a 13-day journey across the Transatlantic, you’ll benefit from being in the centre of one of biggest blue spaces on earth, making for an ideal health and wellness cruise.
Experts from BlueHealth, a pan-European research initiative, found that the less polluted air and greater amount of sunlight found around blue spaces contribute greatly to our general health, and that water has a psychologically restorative effect, inducing positive moods and reducing negative thoughts.
Combined with the pleasures of travelling, the luxurious amenities available, the attentiveness of our crew, and the freedom to relax in any way you see fit, a Transatlantic crossing over the deep blue waters could be the perfect way to let your cares drift away.
