We understand the sacrifices our seafarers continue to make to keep the world economy running. To make life at sea easier we undertook several initiatives during the year, including free calls to the seafarers’ helpline service using Inmarsat’s award-winning Fleet Hotspot solution. With the introduction of the new Fleet Hotspot portal, we put seafarers in a driving seat offering them full control of their accounts, enabling them to manage data use and check purchase history. We also ran frequent promotions to help them stay connected for longer with family and friends on festivals and key occasions. During one such promotion, Fleet Hotspot was accessed nearly 1.6 million times with thousands of seafarers using the service.
We are now pleased to offer a promotion at the close of this year which includes 33% extra talk-time on FleetBroadband and Fleet Xpress ChatCards from 24 December 2022, 00:00 UTC until 1 January 2023, 23:59 UTC.
In addition, all 1GB and 5-hour new Fleet Hotspot allowances purchased by seafarers from the Fleet Hotspot portal during the same period will be available for US$10 instead of the usual US$15.
Powered by our industry-leading Fleet Xpress service, Fleet Hotspot delivers high-speed internet access via a dedicated network and is completely independent from a vessel’s bandwidth. This gives crew the freedom to access a dedicated Wi-Fi portal and manage internet access on their own devices, eliminating the need to find a PC or wait in line to talk to loved ones.
