“War for Talent” panel discussion organised by YoungShip Cyprus

In the framework of the European Year of Youth, YoungShip Cyprus organised the Panel Discussion with the title ‘War for Talent’. The event was held at Columbia Plaza, Limassol, Cyprus. The war for talent is a term coined by Steven Hankin of McKinsey & Company in 1997 and refers to an increasingly competitive landscape for recruiting and retaining talented employees.

The Panelists were Mr. Theodoros Mitsingas, General Manager of Monjasa, Mr. Stephanos Stephou, Chief Commercial Officer of Fameline Holding Group, Mr. Tjard Juergens, Vice President Business Development of Zeaborn Ship Management and Ms. Monica Potsou, HR Manager of P&O Maritime Logistics who presented the new trends and changes in the New Era for the Job Market. The Moderator of the event was Mr. Andreas Tziarras, Managing Director of OneJar.

All the panelists shared with the audience their story on how they joined the shipping industry and what their day-to-day office life entails. Also, they further explained what the word “talent” means for them and how easy it is to find and retain them.

During the conversation, each executive emphasized on how we can build a workplace that attracts and retains great people, especially now given the job market for skilled individuals is so hot. At the same time, our activity aimed, through an exchange of views and constructive dialogue, on what we can do to build a more civilized workplace.

The empowerment of young people and the development of soft skills that correspond to the 21st century was at the forefront of our activity, unquestionably placing YoungShip Cyprus as one of the most attractive youth organizations in Cyprus.

We would like to thank our sponsors for this event – Zeaborn Ship Management.
