The Cyprus Shipping Chamber welcomes with satisfaction the inclusion of Mr. Philippos Philis, President of the European Community Shipowners’ Associations (ECSA), among the first 10 Maritime Personalities with the most influence in terms of Maritime Regulatory issues, in Lloyd’s List, together with the Director General of the Union Mr. Soteris Raptis.
Under his chairmanship at ECSA and according to Lloyd’s List, he has contributed to the formation of the Organisation’s strategy in maritime policy matters and particularly in terms of the green transformation of European Shipping, managing, among other things, to adopt important positions of the Industry in the preliminary agreement in European Emissions Trading Scheme for Shipping, which was achieved very recently.
Mr. Philis, is the first Cypriot Shipowner who is in the ECSA presidency. A fact which constitutes yet another important success and recognition for Mr. Philis, for Cyprus Shipping, but also an important opportunity for Cyprus to participate, even more dynamically, in the drawing up of European shipping policy. In addition to the Chairmanship at ECSA, he holds the position of President and CEO of the Lemissoler company and has been a Member of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber for 10 years and Former President of the Board of Directors of the Chamber, in the period 2019-2021.
