KOGAS begins LNG Production at Coral South in Mozambique

The floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facility at Coral South

Korea Gas Corp. announced on Nov. 13 that it has started production and shipment of LNG at the Coral South gas field in Mozambique.

Coral South is the first development project of the Coral gas field in Mozambique. KOGAS operates a floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facility in Coral South. It plans to produce 3.37 million tons of LNG per year for 25 years until 2047.

The FLNG was built by Samsung Heavy Industries last year as scheduled, despite the global COVID-19 pandemic. It arrived at the project site in January this year and began to produce gas after a test run.

The Coral South project is meaningful for KOGAS as it participates in the entire process of the LNG value chain, from exploration and gas field development to FLNG construction and LNG production, for the first time.
