In joining WBCSD, MSC will collaborate with other purpose-led companies on a range of initiatives – including the Business Commission to Tackle Inequality – towards the vision of creating a world in which 9+ billion people are living well, within planetary boundaries, by mid-century.

MSC is pleased to join the WBCSD, working collectively with 200 of the world’s leading companies to accelerate the system transformations needed for a net zero, nature positive, and more equitable future.

A collaborative responsibility to tackle inequality

Tackling inequality is one of the most pressing topics on the global agenda today. The unbalanced distribution of income, wealth, opportunity, voice as well as access to resources and justice have resulted in social and economic gaps that are wider than ever before. With operations in more than half of the world’s least developed countries – many of which are dependent on trade for economic growth – MSC has a key role to play in reducing these gaps by supporting global trade.

MSC is uniting with key players through the Business Commission to Tackle Inequality (BCTI) to help secure fragile economies around the world by enabling trade access and fostering equitable growth that can be enjoyed by all. MSC’s Vice President for Sustainability, Stefania Lallai, will serve as a BCTI Commissioner to shape, elevate and mainstream a compelling common narrative on how business can tackle inequality and create an agenda for action – at scale.

MSC’s strong core values and long-term view drive our commitment to sustainability, which the company sees as an imperative that is firmly embedded across its business. MSC’s Sustainability Roadmap focuses on three interconnecting priorities: enabling logistics decarbonisation, fostering inclusive trade and addressing social challenges.
