SMM marks the 70th anniversary and history of Lubmarine, a remarkable story that started from relatively humble beginnings, but which has since grown to become a leading player in global marine lubricants market.
“We are celebrating our 70-year commemorative milestone with our teams, partners, affiliates and of course customers around the world. We are using SMM to recognize 70 years of innovation, service and achievement, and to encourage industry to share in our anniversary. We hope to create awareness across industry of how our story began and where the Lubmarine ‘DNA’ originated from,” says Arnaud Guichard, Lubmarine General Manager.
Lubmarine’s history began in 1952, when a small petroleum business based in France inherited a marine business consisting of the lubrication of around 40 steam cargo vessels that had been used as ‘Liberty Ships’ during the Second World War.
Fast forward to today, Lubmarine, as part of TotalEnergies Lubrifiants – the lubricants division within TotalEnergies, is one of the leading marine lubricants suppliers in the world.
“Our products and services are trusted to protect the marine engines and auxiliary equipment on board over 8,000 vessels each year,” highlights Guichard.
While today’s organization owes much to the past, each succeeding generation has eagerly taken on the responsibility of moving the brand forward, building upon its rich heritage and values to discover new and improved ways to grow and develop sustainably.
“The DNA on which the original business and those that evolved through the last 70 years, remains at the heart of the business today: innovation, entrepreneurship, technical knowledge, support, flexibility, creativity, drive and determination to better serve customers across the marine industry.”
A special event at SMM to celebrate 70 years of Lubmarine will take place on Wednesday September 7, from 5.30 pm on Booth 409 in Hall 3. The ceremony will be officiated by Arnaud Guichard, General Manager, and Serge Dal Farra, Marketing Director of Lubmarine.
A book celebrating Lubmarine’s 70 year history is being presented to mark this special occasion in the organization’s history. It is created to showcase the spirit of innovation, passion and dedication by those working for Lubmarine onshore and at sea over the years, including its network of partners and affiliates, through to those operators working in the Lubmarine supply chain today – from raw material suppliers and blending plant operators to the end users and customers.
