Cyprus Shipping Deputy Ministry promotes Cyprus Shipping in the Far East market

The Cyprus Shipping Deputy Minister Vassilios Demetriades, is in Japan from today, where he will hold a series of meetings with government officials, representatives of shipowners’ associations and shipyards, as well as executives of shipping companies and financial institutions.

The visit is part of the promotion of Cyprus as a shipping centre with the aim of creating conditions for attracting shipping companies to Cyprus and ships in the Cyprus registry from the Far East market.

Mr. Demetriades is expected to visit a number of companies in order to develop the advantages of Cyprus shipping while meetings and presentations are planned with Japanese shipping agents as well as journalists who cover local and international shipping events for the current developments and challenges facing the global shipping, presenting Cyprus’ strategic vision for shipping “SEA Change 2030”.

As part of his visit to Japan, the Shipping Deputy Minister, who is accompanied by officials from the Shipping Deputy Ministry, will attend the christening ceremony of a newly built cargo ship of the Safe Bulkers company. The ship, which was built in a Japanese shipyard based on the most modern environmental standards, will fly the Cyprus flag.
