Cyprus Shipping Deputy Minister participates in the United Nations Summit on the Oceans


The Cyprus Shipping Deputy Minister Vassilios Demetriades, has been in Lisbon since yesterday to represent Cyprus at the United Nations Summit on the Oceans.

The Summit, co-organised by Portugal and Kenya, seeks to upgrade and further promote innovative and scientifically sound action to help the United Nations achieve its goal of sustainable oceans and the protection of the marine ecosystem (UN Sustainable Development Goal 14 of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development).

At the Summit, a political declaration is expected to be adopted by all the member states of the Organization, while on the sidelines of the work, Mr. Demetriades is expected to have contacts with counterparts of other countries on issues related to maritime transport and the blue economy.
