On Friday June 17 2022, a tragic accident occurred on the NORDEN owned vessel Nord Magic in Chittagong, Bangladesh, whereby two external technicians later tragically passed away, one en route to the hospital and the other at the hospital.

The external technicians were subcontractors, hired by our technical managers NSSM via an external company, tasked with a routine inspection of the ship’s tanks.

The ship’s crew found the two technicians unconscious in one of the ship’s cargo tanks, after which first aid and evacuation were initiated. An internal investigation has been launched and representatives from technical managers have arrived on board to assist the crew and the investigation.

Crew, technical managers and NORDEN are deeply affected by this, and our thoughts are with the two technicians and their families.
