Steamship Mutual held its group Board meeting in Pissouri on Monday and Tuesday this week. Steamship reported improved underwriting performance on the previous year, although the overall result was still negative, in line with the overall P&I market experience.
This was mainly due to the continuing high level of large claims seen across the industry and the continuing challenges of Covid. The Club hosted a dinner for the maritime community on Monday, which saw about 190 people enjoy themselves at the Columbia Beach resort in Pissouri.
The Club was honoured with the presence of the Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry Natasa Pilides, the Shipping Deputy Minister Vassilios Demetriades, ICCS Acting Superintendent Tonia Tsangaris, and Mr Heinrich Schoeller of Columbia Shipmanagement, a previous Chairman of the Board of Steamship Mutual.
The current Chairmen of the Club, Armand Pohan and Carsten Sommerhage, were pleased to announce the growth in Steamship’s Limassol office to further support local members. They also announced strong growth in the business underwritten by Steamship Limassol across Europe, which is expected to rise above $120m for the next policy year.
