Connector Subsea Solutions acquires Norvalves

Connector Subsea Solutions (CSS) has announced the acquisition of Norvalves AS.

The acquisition supplements CSS’ Subsea Distribution portfolio with Norvalves’ range of Topside and Subsea Valves, along with key operational capabilities including in-house design, engineering, and manufacturing.

The deal bolsters CSS’ ambitions to develop a world-leading range of Subsea Distribution products that meet the challenges of the deepest and most complex subsea installations. This is part of a strategic drive to satisfy growing industry demand for lighter, smaller, and more reliable solutions with remote capabilities.

The Norvalves workforce of 16 people based in Ågotnes, Norway, will be transferring to CSS with immediate effect.

In 29 years, the company has grown from maintaining and repairing valves, to establishing itself as a fast-track manufacturer of high quality, bespoke valves for topside and deepwater installations.

Norvalves specializes in metal-to-metal sealing, pushing technological boundaries to deliver valves that can withstand high temperatures, pressures, and severe service conditions typical of the most demanding subsea applications. Most recently, Norvalves have been developing metal-to-metal 15,000kpsi Ball Valves which is expected to be qualified in June this year.

Ivar Hanson, Chief Executive Officer, Connector Subsea Solutions, commented “The acquisition of Norvalves is a great development for CSS to establish in the Subsea Valve market and will be a great support to develop CSS in the Subsea Distribution segment. We wish the Norvalves employees welcome onboard and look forward to the journey ahead!“

Kristen Andrew Foshaug, Chief Technology Officer, Connector Subsea Solutions, added “CSS has grown the Subsea Distribution portfolio to a strong level of maturity. The synergies between CSS and Norvalves will accelerate the development of the range in terms of breadth and quality.

The company boasts a high-tech production facility where every part of the valve is made in-house and they have remained focused on ensuring a high level of competence within the workforce. Adding Norvalves’ expertise and experience will be invaluable to the growth of our Subsea Distribution division.”

Hallgeir Litangen, Site Manager, Norvalves, concluded “The addition of Norvalves’ field proven Subsea Valves and Connection Systems perfectly augments Connector Subsea Solutions’ own market leading products.

This acquisition by a well-respected innovative company will allow Norvalves to grow our capabilities to their full potential and secures a bright future.”
